Natural Disasters 2010

Natural disaster is the result of natural hazard (e.g., typhoon, flood, volcanic, eruption, earthquake, tornado, droughts, landslides and mudslides, avalanches, cyclone or landslide). It leads to environmental, financial or human losses. The loss is depending upon the vulnerability of the pretentious population to oppose the hazard, also known as their resilience.

Natural disaster death rises vary greatly year-to-year. They also have risen over time. Natural disaster experts say the rise of death because of natural disaster incises due to increases of urban.

2010 is the deadliest year around a generation. More than 29,500 people were dead in 2010 with $109 billion in economic damage, it was more than three times of 2009. More people were dead in worldwide in past 40 years combined. Most people were killed by earthquake.

In 13 Jan of 2010 Haiti is attacked by earthquake. The cost of the earthquake was 220,000 people where the total population was 9 million. The number of losses almost matched to the number people who were died due to Tsunami on Indian Ocean. The Haiti earthquake only calculated to cost $14 billion, according to IAD (Inter-American Development Bank.)

After that strong earthquake is again attacked on Chile, that was 500 time stronger than earthquake of Haiti. The cost of Chile's earthquake was 1000 death and huge amount of economical loss. It was 8.8 in Richter scale which was 5th largest earthquake in the history of earth.

Turkey earthquake: on 8 March 2110, 6.0 earthquake hit on the Turkey. 41 people died on this disaster.

China and Washington D.C snowstorm: In 2010 snowstorm hit on Washington D.C and china. It causes $41 million and 41 deaths.

Uganda landslide: In 1 March 2010 the landslide happened on eastern Uganda. More than 100 people were killed there.

Salang avalanches: in 8 and 9 February more than 172 people were burying and more than 2000 traveler were trapped by this avalanches.

Pakistan floods: It was occur in Sindh province of Pakistan. It cause 1600 deaths and affect more than 6 million people.


Natural Disasters Happened in 2010

As the earth is getting older, more and more disasters are happening almost everywhere. There is almost no country that can escape from the disasters. The natural disasters such as floods, earthquake, volcanoes, hurricanes, or even tsunami, have caused so many people injured and died.

We have to ask ourselves of why the disasters are happening to this world. Not only because this earth is getting older, but also because we do not act well to mother-nature. We cut the trees, waste everything to the river, rob the fish from the sea, cause air and water pollution, etc. Some of the disasters happen because of what we did in the past time, and therefore, we cannot do anything but protect ourselves.

Every year, there are natural disasters that result millions of people died and injured. What are the natural disasters 2010? Let us review some.

Among the natural disasters that happened in 2010 are mud slides, floods, tropical storms, heat waves, earthquakes, and tsunami.

Southern China lost more than 1,000 of its people because of the awful torrential rains and flood on May 2010.

On April, China was strucked by earthquake at 6,9 magnitude. The devastation has caused 2,698 people died and more than 200 people are missing.

On July 26th, Pakistan was swept by the terrible flooding. It is the worst one ever noted in the country. More than 2,000 persons suffered because of the flood and up to 20,000 were affected by the flood.

On October 25th, the biggest Volcano in Indonesia, Mount Merapi, erupted and caused up to 386 people died because of host ashes and gas clouds. More than 300,000 who live around the mountain were evacuated for more than a month.

Haiti got a terrible earthquake at 7.0 magnitudes that resulted up to 250,000 people died. More than 1 million lost their homes. The disaster that happened in January caused some actors and actresses did a fund-raising.

Chilean was also strucked by an 8,8 magnitude earthquake that caused 521 people died and more than 50 others were missing. This was happening on February 27th. Another volcano eruption also happened, but this time attacked Iceland. It was happened on March 20th. It caused the inability of airlines to function normally and resulted in millions of dollars loss.

Those are only some of the natural disasters happened in 2010. As it has been told before, there is no way of preventing the disasters from happening. All we can do is only protect ourselves and understand how to save ourselves in case the disasters happen in our area.
